How My Son Won a Modeling Contest With Honest

This is the story of how my son, Sage, won a modeling contest with Honest Co.

Sage recently won a huge modeling contest. When I found out that Honest Co. was hosting a model search, I quickly entered both of my kids in it. I chose two cute photos that I took of them on my iphone and went on with my life. The next day, two other close friends told me to enter Sage into the contest. I told them that I already had, and we would see what happens. I checked back regularly as more friends reached out to me to enter the kids in this contest. I checked Honest’s instagram page regularly to see if either of them won.

Then, one Friday afternoon, two years to the day that James won the JCrew contest, James was playing at a friends house. Sage and I were folding laundry. Really, I was folding laundry and Sage was unfolding it all. Nevertheless, I like to think that he thought he was helping. Then I my phone vibrated. I checked to see what it was and it was an email from Honest.

I opened and immediately saw that he was the first place winner in the Honest Model search. I screamed and smiled at Sage, announcing to him that he won. I was so excited. I immediately called my husband at work and told him the great news. He said a few choice expletives in excitement and we celebrated by saying, “what?! Oh my gosh” a million times. I was in shock and so excited.

I emailed Robin at Honest and the rest of her team back and forth as she discussed next steps. We chatted on the phone a few times and was super excited to learn everything Sage had won. Their whole team is a dream.

I found out that due to Covid, the photoshoot portion of the contest was scratched, and she told me that I would be taking the photos that would appear in emails and on their website. When I asked Robin if she was sure, she told me that she loved my photos and gave me some direction of what she was looking for.

The first photo shoot was a peekaboo themed shoot. I sent over the pics, and a few days later, Sage appeared, face covered, in the first email blast. It was insane. A few close friends reached out to me and asked if that was Sage. I told them it was in fact Sage, and they freaked out. So excited to see a familiar cute face in their email.

We are super grateful to the team at Honest for treating Sage like royalty and sending over Sage and James a huge box of goodies from their toddler clothing line. He even has his own dedicated page on their site! This has been an insane and exciting experience and I can’t wait to watch the rest of it unfold.
